About Me

Hello, my name is Andrew Mo and I have finished my Animation course at Birmingham City University with a 2:1. I am currently working part time as a bartender whilst I continue to improve my skills and showreel so that, I will be able to meet the standards of one day working into a VFX studio, here in the UK.

I have done several projects back at my university course, however, like many eager animators that were excited to move one pose to another in the world of Maya, I have fallen into the trap of my ego, where I had thought that, because I had animated something and it had audio too synced, I had neglected the animation principles and therefore it wasn't up to scratch. I will admit, I was never proud with my final year project.

After university, I had hoped that with the work I had done so far, that I was able to find a job quite easily. How far wrong was I. It was a difficult time. Luckily, I was then asked from an Animator which I had networked back at university whom had offered to mentor me. With the work like Star wars, Blue Zoo animation productions and most recently, Lone Ranger under his belt, I took that chance without a moment of hesitation.

Three months went by and I had finally grasped the workflow of how to animate in Maya and apply the basic principles of animation. I can't even describe how thankful I was to my mentor and unfortuantely, I have not given thanks to him yet, or given him my gratitude, something that is unlike my nature. But, I was ready to begin to animate myself.

I have now been to a few festivals during 2013 and it has really opened my eyes to what the industry is looking for, where it's going and how the competition is more fierce than ever before. With this, I've now begun to animate more creatures than characters, as there is a demand for it here in the UK.

I sometime feel that I have lagged behind, though I have somewhat always been like this. However one thing is for sure, is that I'm more determined and passionate to reach my dream job and that I have always worked hard to get where I am at.  So feel free to comment, share, blast away at my work!
